Emu Oil is a product of the flightless Australian Emu. It comes from the thick pad of fat on the bird’s back which nature supplied as protection from other fighting birds and from the harsh Australian sun. The fat is refined by a thorough, licensed process, strictly regulated by the Australian Government. This process removes all protein, bacteria and foreign matter. Emu Oil is a natural healing oil which is highly penetrating, anti-bacterial and has anti-inflammatory properties beneficial to the body and skin. It is an odorless oil which will solidify below 18 degrees Celsius
Emu Oil has been used for thousands of years by the Aborigines of Australia to reduce the pain and swelling of arthritis, heal wounds & burns and to reduce the pain, itch and swelling of insect bites and stings. Pure Emu oil is very effective on burns of all types including sunburn, 1st and 2nd degree burns and burns caused from radiation therapy.
Scientific Studies verify that Emu Oil has unique healing properties.
Emu Oil is highly moisturizing, a natural skin softener and has rejuvenating properties. It has been shown to reduce the depth and length of fine lines and wrinkles. Emu oil is non greasy and is highly penetrating. In fact, Emu Oil has been demonstrated to be the fastest and most penetrating oil, making it an excellent trans-dermal carrier for other added moisturizers and therapeutic ingredients.
Pure Emu Oil is natural and non-toxic, non-comedogenic (meaning that it does not clog pores), hypo-allergenic (non-irritating) and is gentle for all skin types.
Emu Oil is an effective anti-inflammatory. The potency of the anti-inflammatory effect from Emu Oil is similar to ibuprofen without the negative side-effects frequently common with traditional prescription or corticosteroid-based anti-inflammatory medications.

What is Emu Oil used for?
Applied topically or taken internally.
To moisturize: Emu Oil can be applied topically to treat dry skin conditions such as eczema & psoriasis and is also suitable as a moisturizer for spot prone skin as it does not block pores.
To reduce pain and swelling: Taken internally and/or applied topically, it is also used as an anti-inflammatory to give temporary relief to stiff/sore muscles and joints and to treat sports injuries or tired and overworked muscles.
As an after sun or to treat burns: Helps to reduce redness, reduce the heat and reduce pain. Helps to prevent peeling. Increases the healing time for burns and reduces the likelihood of scarring.
To treat scars/stretch marks: Emu Oil helps your skin to heal and regenerate itself. Will reduce the redness of new stretch marks and can reduce the appearance of old stretch marks.
To heal wounds/bruises/injuries: It is believed that Emu Oil helps to speed up the healing process almost two-fold by encouraging cell regeneration and reducing inflammation. Also reduces the likelihood of scaring.
To promote healthy hair growth: Applied to the scalp, Emu Oil will nourish the hair follicles, sometimes awakening dormant follicles and encouraging strong, health hair growth.
OTHER BENEFITS:
What should PURE Emu Oil look, smell & taste like?
Being a natural product the colour and smell of each batch varies depending on the animals’ lifestyle, what they have been feeding on and the refining process used. Colour, odour and texture are also good indications of quality.
Colour
The oil can vary in colour between a cream and a pale yellow colour. Beware if the oil is a dark yellow, or has a brown or red tint. This can be an indication that the oil has been overheated in the refining process; overheating will destroy many of the beneficial properties. It can also indicate that it is old oil that has been reheated to kill off any odour from where it has started to go rancid. We sell our Emu Oil in transparent bottles so that you can see what you are getting.
Odour
Emu Oil should be odourless or virtually odourless. Avoid very strong smelling or oil that smells burnt or “chemical”, it may be old or poorly refined oil. Also avoid oils with a “flowery” or slight perfume to them as this is a sure sign that something has been added to deodorize or cover up the fact that the oil is not up to scratch.
Taste
Emu Oil should be tasteless/bland. It is preferred by many as substitute to cod liver oil as you don’t get a fishy after taste and it contains three omegas (3, 6 & 9) as opposed to just one in fish oil. It is also more potent. If the oil is not in capsules please ensure the oil is food grade and conforms to health & safety legislation.
Texture
Emu Oil is quite thick in comparison to other oils such as Olive. It will solidify below 18°C. The oil does not have a “smooth” texture as some vegetable oils do; this is due to the range and type of “fatty acids” in the oil. Emu Oil has two fractions, the Olein; more liquid, transparent fraction and the Stearin; the more solid, pearlescent fraction. This makes the oil appear to have “bits” floating in it. These are the more solid fractions of the oil and will be absorbed on contact with warm skin. The warmer the oil the smoother and more liquid it becomes.
Who can use Emu Oil?
The topical application of Emu Oil is safe for all the family including children, babies, the elderly, the sick and during pregnancy. There are no known side affects.

Vitamin E
Omegas 3,6 & 9

Can I use Emu Oil in my homemade cosmetics, massage blends and soaps?
Yes, Emu Oil is an excellent ingredient for homemade cosmetics due to its natural skin beautifying properties. If you are using active ingredients such as essential oil or herbal extracts the Emu Oil will transport these deeper into the skin and make your product more effective. You can experiment by using 20-30% Emu Oil in creams and lotions. For massage blends you can try blending Emu Oil with other base oils such as Jojoba or Almond Oil, for economy you may wish to use 50-60% Emu Oil. To make your own muscle and joint rubs it is recommended that the Emu Oil is not diluted to below 75%.
Can I use Emu Oil to make my own soaps?
Soap made with Emu Oil has a rich, creamy feel, and leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and supple.
As a soap component, Emu Oil adds hardness and stable lathering and incorporates easily into soap blends, creating no unusual behavior to the soap making process. You can make soap using 100% Emu Oil which will make a hard bar with a mild creamy lather but this would be very costly and extravagant as Emu Oil is an expensive oil so it may be best to add Emu Oil as a luxury super-fatting agent. For a really luxurious and excellent soap try adding emu oil as 10-25% of the total oils in the recipe. Even using 2-3% of Emu Oil in place of a fat in an existing recipe would enhance any soap.
